Since the beginning of LinkedIn, they have always offered the option to collect Recommendations from your connections. Just like you might include them with you resume, they’re a great way to show off the qualities and skills you possess to current and prospective clients, employees, or employers.
Well, you may have noticed that LinkedIn has added a Skills & Expertise section on your profile. All you have to do is list your various areas of expertise and then your connections can Endorse you with a single click.
So what’s so great about this?
It’s fast an easy! Recommendations take time to write, and yes they might offer a bit more value, but you can really build up the volume here. It’ll make you look great!
It’s a quick read! Recommendations take time to read through, where as this new section can get your point across in the matter of seconds.
Search engine optimization! This is a great way to get the keywords you want on your profile, which will give a little boost to the search engine ranking of your profile.
Recommendations still have a ton of value and I think you should keep pushing to collect them whenever you can. But don’t feel bad taking the easy route in addition. Be proactive – endorse one of your other connections and hopefully, they will reciprocate!
